Chris and Jenny McTearnen intend to host a fall-themed event filled with entertainment, food, crafts and more. They’re calling it Sprottfest.
On Sunday the McTearnen will host Sprottfest for the first time at their farm in the hills of Ste. Genevieve County. They’re hoping to bring the little community together with a country farm festival.
The festival will feature antiques, hand crafted items, and locally grown farm fare. There will be plenty to eat with the help of Bauhaus Kaffee, Avenue Events Catering, Vance Vineyards and others. There will be coffee, wine, food and treats for everyone.
Jenny McTearnen came by her love of antiques naturally, from her mother and father who both enjoy going to auctions. She spent many summer days watching with excitement and learning about antiques. Jenny and her mother, Carol LaChance, have a natural knack for finding treasures.
When Chris and Jenny moved to their farm two years ago they thought about hosting an event that would bring all things Jenny loves to her own township. When they began planning the event Chris immediately came up with the name of Sprottfest.
“Sprottfest is a country farm festival with a variety of products and activities. There will be antiques, artisans featuring everything from handmade scarves to beautiful country photography,” said Jenny.
“We love the farmers market and wanted to give the local farmers an opportunity to bring their products to an audience they might not see them otherwise.”
There will be mums, pumpkins, hay bales and cut corn stalks for sale. There will also be musical entertainment.
The event will be held at the McTearnin farm from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday. The farm is located eight miles from Farmington on State Route EE.
