Maybe they can’t sing, but many West County students have talent and they plan to show it during the West County's Got Talent show on Oct. 30.

The talent show will feature up to 10 students from each of the school district’s three buildings. The performance begins at 7 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Admission $5, although children ages 5 and under get in free.

“This is different from West County Idol in that students can not only sing, but they can also perform any other talent that they have,” choir director Ryan Hassell said. “We will have a mix of singing, a couple of bands, instrumental solos, dance groups and even a comedy routine.”

Prizes will be awarded for the top three students in each of the three divisions: Elementary, middle and high school. First prize is $50, second is $40 and third is $30. The audience will vote to choose winners. Everyone who attends will receive a ballot with a program.

A team of teachers will tabulate the votes after all acts have performed. While they are counting votes, the West County High School Swing Choir & Pep Band will play and Triplett & Probst Dance Studio will perform dance routines.

Proceeds will benefit the West County Middle School.

The West County Idol program, which drew nearly 1,000 people last year, will take place in March.
