The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to an accident on November 8, 2009 along US 67, 1.2 miles south of Cherokee Pass. According to the report Roger B Hampton, 64, of Piedmont suffered minor injuries when his 1999 Ford Explorer and towed unit ran off the road and overturned. Hampton was traveling southbound on 67.

Hampton was transported to Madison Medical Center by ambulance. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident according to the report.  Vehicle damage was considered extensive.
