Wanted: Lighted floats, carolers, bands, fire trucks, and Christmas spirit.

The Bonne Terre Chamber of Commerce’s 30th annual Christmas parade is less than a month away. The parade will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 7.

Carolyn Kaeser, parade chairperson said the theme of the parade will be “Christmas Stories.”

The parade route will stay the same as last year with the parade starting at North Allen and DeSoto. It will then travel to Division to Southwest Main and finally, to the Post Office.

Line-up will start at 5:30 behind city hall (former old Bonne Terre Elementary). No candy can be thrown from moving vehicles, but parade participants may hand distribute items.

Again, this year the Bonne Terre Chamber of Commerce is in charge of bringing Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Prizes for floats will be awarded: $200 for first place; $150 for second; $100 for third; $75 for fourth; and $50 for fifth.

To be in the parade, register your entry by Dec. 4 by calling the chamber office at 573-358-4000.

Before the parade, Shearin Funeral Home and Boyer Funeral Home are again sponsoring the annual Bonne Terre Memorial Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at Bicentennial Park (across from the Post Office) in honor of loved ones who have died.

The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. and last about 30 minutes. It will include the lighting of the tree, hanging of ornaments, prayer service, singing, and candle vigil.

For more information, call Boyer at 573-358-2277 or Shearin at 573-358-2354.
