Dr. Donnell, dentist, advertises that owing to hard times he will be in Fredericktown for 10 days during February with “city dentistry at country prices.”
Fredericktown has been divided into 4 wards, with the main streets running from the courthouse as boundaries. Two councilmen will be elected from each ward for a term of 2 years.
Capt. W. H. Higdon from Higdon celebrated his 71st birthday at his daughter’s house in Fredericktown.
A notice for bid from the county court court asked for the care and keeping of 4 paupers.
January 31, 1935
Fredericktown has been selected as headquarters for the St. Francois Mountain Purchase by the U.S. Forest Commission. Wild land will be purchased for from $1 to $3 per acre.
The Millcreek store was robbed. The robbers escaped in a Model A Ford.
The Marquand Junior class will present the play “The Manhatten Honeymoon” again Saturday night, after bad weather prevented many from attending the original. A negro minstrel and 7 tap dancing numbers will also be given. Admission 5 cents and 10 cents.
February 4, 1960
The new $625,000 dial system will begin operation Sunday. It will be a 2 letter 5 digit system. (STate 3-xxxx)
Dr. C.E. Michaelis will head the county heart drive.
The new telephone office will hold an open house.
The eighteen telephone operators held a farewell dinner.
The Fredericktown schools will increase non resident tuition to $325, up from $260.
N.F. Whitener resigned as Marquand’s Marshall.
The unbelieveable national debt requires 9.1 billion dollars just to pay the interest. The debt amounts of $1650 per person.

Gasoline prices have dipped to under $1 a gallon. Regular was at 91.9 and no lead 98.9.
James Jay Pyatt has been nominated to West Point. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wulfert and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pyatt.
The Fredericktown R-1 Schools are having to amend it’s calendar because of so many snow days.
