Holiday Events Calendar
December 5, this Friday night, is the Annual Home for the Holidays, in downtown Fredericktown. (See page 11 of this issue for more details.) The parade will be on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 6:30 P.M. in the downtown area. Line up will be at the Armory and travel toward town ending at JC Park, where there will be hot chocolate and SANTA. Line up time will be 5:30 PM. Please arrive on time!
Haas gets big honor
Gretchen Haas of Marquand, Missouri was recently chosen as Murray State University (MSU) 2008-2009 Rodeo Queen. Gretchen was crowned on October 27 and was judged not only on her riding abilities but on poise and confidence as well.
Oakdale Church appreciates concerns, calls
The Congregation of Oakdale Church would like to thank everyone for their calls and concerns for us after the fire that destroyed our church buildings. We are now meeting at the church on Highway C known as Maple Grove in the Jewett community. The Jewett Community Center is just across the road from the church. Our services will remain the same except for Thursday night Bible study which will be canceled.
Blood Drive December 10th
The last 2008 American Red Cross blood drive in Madison County will be held on Wednesday, December 10th at St. Michael's Church on West Main Street in Fredericktown.  Donation times will be 2 pm - 7 pm.  There is a goal of 35 units set for this drive.

Madison County Commission Minutes
On November 17, 2008, the Honorable Madison County Commission met pursuant to adjournment on with the following officers present; Presiding Commissioner John Rauls and First District Commissioner Dennis Bradford. Second District Commissioner Terry Hovis was absent due to personal reasons.  County Clerk Don Firebaugh was present to record the proceedings.

The Fredericktown R-I School District met on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. President Larry Kemp led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Woman dies in accident on Highway 67
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report Linda S. Beel, 55, of St. Louis suffered fatal injuries when she was thrown from the vehicle she was driving at 5:25 PM on November 30, 2008. Beel was traveling northbound on Highway 67, three miles south of Fredericktown when her 1999 Cavalier ran off the left side of the road, traveled down an embankment and overturned ejecting the driver through the driver side door. The vehicle came to rest on her. Madison County Coroner Chris Follis pronounced her passing at the scene.  A passenger in the car, Albert J. Beel also of St. Louis suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Madison Medical Center by ambulance. Neither the driver or the passenger were wearing a seat belt according to the report.
